Zara Larsson: Midnight Sun Tour
Pop maximalism in an endless Midnight Sun.
For Zara Larsson’s Midnight Sun tour, Black Skull helped build a live world rooted in Swedish summer, pop maximalism and high-energy performance.
The tour needed to reflect an artist stepping fully into her own visual identity: bright, physical, sharp, playful and in control. Black Skull’s role spanned creative direction, show direction, production design, visual content direction and choreography. The show was structured into distinct acts, each with its own visual tone, movement language and emotional register.
Zara Larsson's Midnight Sun Tour is built around the idea of an endless, artificially prolonged summer - not a real season, but a hyperreal emotional experience manufactured through technology and pop mythology. Drawing on Baudrillard's concept of simulacra, the show presents itself as a "euphoric hallucination" where joy, sunlight, and beauty are looped, filtered, and reconstructed on demand. The aesthetic is lush, synthetic, and deliberately over-saturated - summer reprogrammed.
The result was a tour that felt like a complete pop statement: high-gloss, physical, camera-ready and built around Zara as the centre of gravity.

"It's also a manifesto of sorts for the world that Larsson is building: neon, languorous, a little woo-woo."

Zara’s Midnight Sun Tour was designed as a zany-wholesome pop escape that pays homage to Sweden’s endless summer. We designed and produced the show’s screen worlds in Notch and Unreal, combining bespoke animation with live-rendered VFX.
